Message from Pat Standen

Congratulations to everyone who made this weekend the great triumph and success that it was. From Jeremy's victory to Jordan Baker's inaugural ride in the Yam Scram, we really made an impact in the Queen City!

Despite the wet conditions, we had 15 spirited competitors in Sunday's marathon with some newbies (Laura Denison, Jordan Carrell, Marcus Causton, David Santamore and our 15-year old phenom, Bryan Bathalon)! We had some old vets vying for respectability (Standen, Hollywood, Craige, Brown) and some returnees making their marks (Smith, Rose, Leatherbee, and Trefethen) and, of course, Jeremy Shortsleeve proving that hard work and a great training ethic really pays off--congrats Jeremy! Finally hats off to the inimitable Danny Perry who continues to amaze (and bewilder) us all with his grit. Somebody buy him a racing chair!

The Rehab Gym Sponsor award went to Ray Brown of NY, and top male honors went to the aforementioned Jeremy "Speedy" Shortsleeve and women's honors to first-timer, Laura Denison. Thanks to everyone who came out to staff the NDAA table at the expo, ate pasta, refueled at camp and swam in the lake--BRRRR!  A big thank you to the good staff at Run Vermont for their continuing support and a special thanks to Joe Connelly for all he's done for Athletes with disabilties!

We missed Kirsty, Andrea, Cleary and Andy, but NDAA is just starting to rock this summer. There's a handcycle rally in Lake Placid June 13th and an NDAA Handcycle clinic in Stowe Saturday, June 20th. Lastly, NDAA was really proud to make our 3 new handcycles available to athletes to train in and/or compete this year. Stay tuned and get some rest!
