Vermont Sled
Cats Get Busy
|

The NDAA forms the Vermont
Sled Cats sledge hockey team and begins training and
practing regularly. Game jerseys are purchased by the
team and a donation of practice jerseys from the
St. Michael's College Men's Hockey program helps keep
things organized during scrimmages. The Sled Cats' debut
game took place against the CT Sled Hockey Wolf Pack
on February 11, 2006.

3rd Annual Lake Champlain Invitational
M16 Regatta
|
|
|
Lake Champlain's premier disabled
sailing event draws more sailors and craft than in either
of its 2 previous years of NDAA sponsorship. This year's
regatta hosts 9 boats and 15 sailors from the northeastern
US, Quebec and Ontario. Special guest Steve Alvey, Martin
16 General Manager and M16 Class Association board member,,
brings along a prototype M16-2 Olympic racing boat, a
2-person craft campaigning for inclusion in the 2008
Summer Paralymic Games in Beijing.

Reeve Foundation Challenge Grant Sets Sail
|
|
|
The NDAA receives a Quality of Life Challenge
Grant from the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation to acquire
one or more fully accessible Martin 16 sailboats. NDAA's success
in raising the cost of a basic M16 will bring funding
for sails, rigging and assistive technology for 2 Martin 16's.

Donation Puts Sled Hockey Program On The Ice
|
|
|
A generous donation from the French Foundation
enables the purchase of 10 sleds and 20 sticks for ice sled/sledge
hockey, enough equipment to begin developing Vermont's first
sled hockey team. Cairns Arena in South Burlington donates
several hours of ice time to help get the program established.

We're Deductible! NDAA Receives
Tax-exempt Status
|
|
|
Largely through the hard work and expertise
of Treasurer Ursula Boehringer, CPA, NDAA's application
for 501(c)(3) status as a tax-exempt public charity is approved
by the IRS. This clears the way for donors to make tax deductible
contributions to the Association.

NDAA Partners with UVM Adaptive Phys Ed Class, UVM
Soccer Cats Gain Wheels
|
|
|
NDAA teams with future Phys Ed teachers
in UVM Professor Dr. Susan Kasser's Adaptive Physical Education
class for a six-week service learning project highlighting
Wheelchair Basketball. The project brought together players
with and without physical disabilities to learn the game of
wheelchair basketball. The project culminated in an exhibition
game against members of the UVM Men's Soccer team.

NDAA Incorporates
|
|
|
The Northeast Disabled Athletic Association
receives the blessing of the Vermont Secretary of State's
office, and is declared a Vermont non-profit corporation.
